Being back in America is SWEET!!!

From the couch of Chris...

A few months ago when we were in China, we went out to lunch to celebrate a student's birthday. While we were sitting at a table and eating with his friends, we heard him telling his Chinese teachers "... they don't drink beer, only juice and water... and they don't like rice, all they eat is cookies and cakes!" At the time we laughed this off and figured it was just because we like to bake our students something sweet every time they come to our apartment. However, now that we've been back in America for a bit, I'm starting to think that he was onto something!

Cake #1: First, we start with a cake in honor of our baby! Given to us by our good friends in Shelbyville, KY, this was a delicious start to my effort to regain weight this summer!

Cake #2: Baby Shower cake presented to us at Allie's family reunion in Pennsylvania. It was a deliciously awesome surprise!

Cake #3: Presented to us at a baby shower/welcome back cookout at the Graves family house in Raleigh! This one was a "Milky Way" cake and I was glad to enjoy the leftovers for the next week!

Cake #4: Finally, a cake that isn't for us! This delicious cake was consumed at my father's birthday dinner. Known as a "hummingbird cake," this banana/nut/pineapple cake was also a favorite around the house for the next week!

OK Peter, so we were in the U.S. for 3 weeks and consumed.... 4 cakes. Does that mean that all we eat is "cookies and cakes??" Touche, Peter, touche. You have proven your ability to make very astute observations, so now I challenge you to this: who enjoyed their cake more?!
