I was sitting here this morning with Carob (the toy poodle puppy we watch sometimes for a friend) and I realized that I never posted the pictures from our teacher soccer team.
These guys are awesome, some were art teachers, geography teachers, sports med teachers, and everything in between. Not only are they super talented zu cho (football) players but so wonderful to Chris and I. From making sure we had water at every break, to the teacher that drove us 45 minutes home and even found the only english radio station to listen to (Mariah Carey), it was a a true honor to be a part of this team.
So we played in the school tournament. Each department had their own team of students and then there were the teachers. We played 4 games over a two week period and won each of them. Granted some were narrow victories winning by just one PK but we got all the way to the finals! Usually Chris and I would get a call a few days before the game saying when and where it was but for the finals, we didn't hear anything. Odd. So we went out to eat with some of the team the night before what we thought was the day of the finals, and ask them what time the game will be. That's when they told us that the team had decided to let 2 student teams play in the final game because it is the honorable thing to do. Huh, I felt good about that, sad we won't be playing, but happy that I am on a team of such benevolent teachers.
When we got home from dinner we had a message from another one of the teachers on the team and he said that we did not just let the students play, but we were disqualified after one teacher didn't register to play and played anyways. Which is the truth??? The world may never know. But despite all that we had a great time playing and we got to keep our jerseys!
