Bar-B-Ewwww

From the computer chair of Allie...

Last week we went to a Bar-B-Q or a picnic with the local government church.  There are few things I like more than a good grilled brat with an ice cold beverage but I had a feeling that this would not be that kind of BBQ.  For starters, it began at 9am.  We walked with some of our students to the park where the picnic would be held.  We sang some songs and played some games and then got to cooking. Here's how we started the fire.

That is a stick of alcohol, which was used to start the fire.  All you have to do is pour it all over the charred wood and voila...fire.  Apparently dudes making fire is a cross cultural experience.

Next came the food.  We had chicken legs, chicken stomatch, bean sprouts, chicken feet, pork, tofu, some kind of meatball, and a pre-packaged hot dog with corn inside.

All piled together.  In case you were wondering cross-contamination does not exist here.

This is me learning how to cook everything.  It was a great day of fun with friends and if you put a corn hot dog on a grilled steamed bun and close your eyes... it almost tastes like 'merica.

The BBQ may not have been quite the same as NC but we do live in South China.

Night ya'll.
