Last week was the National Holiday break. It is similar to the 4th of July but everyone gets a week off and there is a general mass exodus to touristy spots or home. We decided to travel to a city called Yangshuo which is in a neighboring province. This is a place that is so beautiful they put it on the back of a 20 yuan bill. It is a backpacker's paradise with plenty of hostels and coffee shops. And of course lots of adventure type stuff to do. That's right, adventure and real coffee shops!! To get there we hopped on a 7 hour train which was surprisingly tolerable and then took an hour taxi ride to our hotel.
This place was indescribable. So here is a picture.
It would not be a Young family vacation without some adventure soooo

That cab ride would have been terrifying for a back seat driver such as myself. I would have ruined that video with a plethora of "AHHH!'s" and "WATCH OUT'S!" Are cars manufactured without breaks there?
ReplyDeleteYour holiday trip seems like it was a real adventure. I'm glad that you had a chance to explore more of China. It seems like you both had a great time. I was wondering what the water quality was like in that river. It sounds like the banks of the river that Chris normally runs along isn't all that pristine. Thanks for taking video, and sharing this amazing journey with us all. I love you guys.
Nice Treksports!
