We are settling in back here in China, in our new city of Changsha. Changsha is in the same province as Hengyang (the Hunan province) but it is the capital city and sometimes seems a world away. We are a little sad that we don't see our old friends walking around the campus but we are excited to make new friends here. In fact, Chris was already asked to be on a club soccer team who, according to his new friend, already has one foreigner from Cameroon so he should fit right in. Yup, he should.
Our internet still has some kinks in it so I am over at one of our teammates houses sitting in their son Jonathan's chair. He doesn't seem to mind and it makes me feel youthful again :) J is two years old and a blast to hang out with. This is Chris and J playing 'Tall Guy'.
It is hard to imagine that we have been back for a week! This week has been full of orientation meetings, team meetings, trips to Walmart (a real walmart too!) They even have great value tofu!
We had to go on a team scavenger hunt around the city and so here are some of the pictures we took. It must be said that while there are significant fun and historic sights in Changsha, more points were awarded for finding three starbucks or 3 Dairy Queens. We are competitive. No judgement.
This is one of the 3 self Churches in Changsha, I love the doorway greenery
Daylight Donuts?! Heck yes! I don't even think this was on the scavenger hunt list, but oh well.
All the donuts were the cake-y kind (my favorite) with different kinds of icing on them, we all got strawberry with coconut. Zoey is holding the bag because her chocolate with sprinkles donut isn't ready yet:)
What's that Zoey? Life is better with a chocolate donut and a mug full of milk? Yes indeed
This is the last stop of our scavenger hunt, Stephanie is a little tired, but even starbucks signs give me a rush of adrenaline these days!
