From the hotel couch of Allie.....
Walking around Bangkok being about to pop is super fun. And by super fun I mean....it's like being one of those Chow dogs they spray paint to look like pandas. Like this:
At first people just assume you're another foreigner....then they see the bulging belly and they think "What on earth????"
There are tons of foreigners here but mostly middle aged men or backpackers looking for fun, not a couple waiting for their first born. So here are some of the fun things we have heard walking down the street.
"Baby....how many Baht?" This is a repeated conversation (?) we have with a tuk tuk driver on the way to our favorite breakfast place. Baht is Thai currency. So basically he is offering to purchase our unborn baby. We typically ignore him since our little one is not for sale and definetly not up for bargaining.
Taxi driver: "How old is your baby?"
Me: "Ummm, 9 months?"
Taxi Driver: "So maybe one or two more days???!"
Me: "Yeah I hope so"
Taxi Driver: "Happy birthday to you baby, happy birthday to you!" (He also starts waving his arms around a bit)
Me: "Thanks!"
Taxi Driver: "You want to go floating market?"
Hair stylist: "Ahh, you have baby?"
Me: "Yes, maybe very soon"
Hair stylist: "You have two baby??"
Me: "Nope, just one American sized baby"
Hair stylist: "Ahh a very big baby"
It has been such a wonderful blessing to be here while we wait on our new addition and quite entertaining too!
