I don't know how this post slipped my mind. Back when Megan was still in Thailand, her last (planned) day. We knew we had to go to the floating markets. The floating markets in Bangkok are actually mainly just set up for tourists (who woulda thought) and are typically super expensive and about an hour long taxi ride away from the city. We found a more authentic one to go to that was not as far away.
Here's some pictures from the market. (In case you couldn't tell, Chris took these, that's why they are so good :) )
This lady was salting and cooking fish stuffed with some type of leaves.
These treats are made from soybeans and jelly and are all the same flavor.
All around the boats were these giant fish. But that didn't stop business.
Just so you can see where you order all this yummy goodness.
This lady was awesome, we walk up and she asks where we are from. When we said the U.S. she said, 'Oh I love Lady Gaga!' And check out those shrimp!
This woman is making Tom Som (green papaya salad). It is really good!
Little did we know that the market outside the floating market would actually have more to offer in the way of tasty unknown treats. Check out these Tiny Thai Tasty Tacos....or something like that:
Now, as some of you may know, this video is a bit foreshadowing. Megan got horrible food poisoning later on in the day (the believed culprit is some bad curry she had for lunch) and she did not end up making her first flight back home due to spending some time in the hospital. I really wanted a picture of Megs in her hospital uniform to end out this post, but well, its on her phone and you will just have to use your imagination but it was glorious. Thailand is not the same without her.
